Shin Bet Director David Zini met with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu before briefing Central Election Committee Chairman, Supreme Court Justice Noam Solberg, regarding an ongoing investigation into alleged foreign interference in the recent Israeli elections. According to reports, Zini told the prime minister that the Shin Bet legal advisor had sought to restrict the probe prior to the vote.

The security agency emphasized that the investigation is conducted independently under its legal mandate to thwart foreign influence, without input from any political party. The Shin Bet clarified that until the vote concluded, no outside entity had access to the gathered information, aside from Justice Solberg.

While authorities investigate suspicions that hundreds of thousands of shekels originating from Qatar were channeled to a body associated with the Arab parties to influence voter turnout, Qatari officials strongly denied the allegations. Qatar's Foreign Ministry spokesman Dr. Majed Al-Ansari dismissed the claims as a ridiculous and dangerous disinformation campaign aimed at dragging Doha into post-election political disputes.

Simultaneously, the Israel Police and Lahav 433's National Fraud Unit have detained seven suspects from the Bedouin diaspora in the Negev, including three school principals, on suspicion of undermining election integrity. Police Commissioner Kobi Shabtai vowed to protect democratic processes without compromise.

The affair has ignited a fierce political storm. Prime Minister Netanyahu's Likud party claimed the election was compromised, while opposition leaders accused the ruling party of attempting to orchestrate a narrative to delegitimize the official results and delay the swearing-in of the 26th Knesset.
