Nablus Terror Cell Thwarted in Plot to Target Itamar Ben Gvir and IDF Soldiers
Police and the Shin Bet thwarted a Nablus terror cell planning attacks, including an assassination attempt on Minister Itamar Ben Gvir and kidnapping an IDF soldier.
The Central Unit of the Police and the Shin Bet announced today that they thwarted a terror cell from Nablus comprising two suspects. The suspects possessed a large weapons arsenal and advanced a series of murderous attacks, including an assassination attempt on Minister of National Security Itamar Ben Gvir, the kidnapping of an IDF soldier, and the execution of attacks using explosive drones and vehicles.
At the conclusion of the investigation, the Judea and Samaria Military Prosecution filed severe indictments against those involved, alongside a request to detain them until the conclusion of legal proceedings.
According to the details of the indictment and the joint statement by the Israel Police and Shin Bet spokespersons, two Palestinian residents of Nablus had been operating together since late 2023 to advance military-style activity. The two accumulated a broad weapons cache including M-16, M-4, and Kalashnikov rifles, handguns, a shotgun, and extensive ammunition. Concurrently, the pair recruited additional operatives, trained them in shooting drills, and discussed various plots against civilians and security forces.
The suspects' detention was repeatedly extended by the court, and upon the consolidation of the evidentiary foundation, indictments were filed by the Samaria Military Prosecution.
