Hostage Survivor Eli Sharabi Defends Yocheved Lifshitz and Criticizes State Memorial Plans
Hostage survivor Eli Sharabi defended Yocheved Lifshitz on 103FM following attacks over her criticism of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, while criticizing the state's memorial plans and calling for a commission of inquiry.
Eli Sharabi, a survivor of captivity, defended Yocheved Lifshitz during an interview on 103FM on Wednesday after she faced severe criticism for her recent remarks against Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
Sharabi, who is set to host the independent national ceremony commemorating October 7, condemned the attacks on Lifshitz by Channel 14 panelist Avi Shushan and bereaved father and Likud activist Itzik Bonzel. "It is simply sad. There are no words to describe the hatred, evil, and division that someone sowed there; it is very bad," Sharabi said.
Criticism of State Memorial Plans
Sharabi also criticized the state's handling of the memorial events, noting that as a bereaved family member and a former captive, he was never even informed about whether or where a state-organized ceremony would take place.
"You expect the state to take responsibility for this ceremony, to pull it off in the most respectful and grandest way, and unfortunately that is not happening, which is why the families are stepping up," Sharabi stated.
Call for a State Commission of Inquiry
Addressing recent reports regarding intelligence warnings received by Netanyahu prior to the October 7 attack, Sharabi called for the immediate establishment of a state commission of inquiry. He emphasized that investigating failures and learning lessons is paramount for the country's future.
