A new cultural project called "Opera in Suspenders" will be launched on August 11, screening leading international opera productions every Tuesday in cinemas across the country, allowing senior citizens to enjoy world-class performances for just 10 shekels.
A new cultural project called "Opera in Suspenders" will be launched on August 11, featuring screenings of leading international opera productions every Tuesday in cinemas across the country.
The project, initiated by ARIA and Ellacomm, will operate in the Cinema City, Planet, and Hot Cinema chains, where senior citizens will be able to purchase tickets for only 10 shekels as part of the "Tuesday in Suspenders" initiative.
The screening series will open with Giacomo Puccini’s "La Bohème" in a grand production from the Arena di Verona. The work, which premiered 130 years ago, tells the love story of Rodolfo and Mimi against the backdrop of bohemian life in Paris. Screenings will include subtitles in Hebrew and English.
Throughout the year, additional operas will be screened, including "La Traviata" in September, "Madama Butterfly" in October, "Tosca" in November, and "The Magic Flute" in December.
According to Sapir Ella, VP of Ellacomm:
"This is huge news. For the first time, there is high-quality cultural content specifically designed for 'Tuesday in Suspenders', and most importantly, for only 10 shekels for senior citizens."
The ARIA project, which has been operating in Israel for six years, opens the doors of opera to the senior audience and all culture lovers, providing a regular reason to leave the house, socialize, and enjoy grand productions on the big screen.
Screenings will take place every Tuesday at participating cinema chains. Details regarding dates and ticket bookings will be published on the websites of Cinema City, Planet, and Hot Cinema.
