Sderot Mayor Demands Hamas Dismantling and Rejects Regional Budget Cuts
Sderot Mayor Alon Davidi demanded party leaders commit to dismantling Hamas and securing Gaza, while envelope mayors protested proposed state budget cuts to regional rehabilitation.

Security Demands from Sderot Mayor
Sderot Mayor Alon Davidi presented a clear demand to party leaders at the Gaza Envelope Future Conference: a binding commitment to the dismantling of Hamas, the eradication of terror from the Gaza Strip, and an offensive security policy to guarantee long-term safety for border communities. "The yellow line is not a security policy; it is the line from which we launch attacks," Davidi stated.
Call for Post-War Planning and Autonomy
Davidi demanded a practical day-after plan for Gaza, detailing civil administration, demilitarization responsibility, timelines, and contingency measures. He also called for a permanent defense array for the envelope backed by intelligence and rapid response, alongside granting municipal leaders independent authority over civil defense and emergency management.
Opposition to State Budget Cuts
Simultaneously, envelope mayors sent a letter to Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich demanding the full exclusion of the Tkuma rehabilitation program budgets from planned cross-state spending cuts. They warned that reductions in education, welfare, and healthcare undermine the core recovery of the region.
