A resident of Sderot who tried to help two teenage girls being harassed on the street found his life in danger after a driver struck him and drove off with him sprawled across the hood. The incident occurred while the resident was speaking with the police emergency dispatch center and reporting the unfolding events. Channel 14 has exclusively revealed the footage and recordings of the terrifying moments, which subsequently led to the filing of an indictment against two suspects.

The Incident and the Initial Harassment

The incident took place about a month ago when a 26-year-old resident of Tel Sheva in the Negev entered a parking lot in Sderot and began following two young girls who were at the location. According to the indictment, the driver harassed the girls and honked his horn at them repeatedly, even as they tried to evade him and move away from the area.

At a certain point, the girls noticed Shmuel Pahima, a resident of Sderot who was nearby, and turned to him for help. Pahima approached the driver to inquire about his behavior toward the girls, while simultaneously calling the police dispatch center to report the incident.

Escalation and the Moment on the Hood

However, during the call with the police, the driver exited his vehicle and began attacking Pahima. Vehicle cameras and surveillance cameras on a nearby building captured the confrontation between the two, as well as the sequence of events that subsequently led to the resident being struck.

"The driver accelerated toward him, struck him, and continued driving with Pahima sprawled on the hood, all while Pahima was still on the phone with the police dispatch center reporting in real time."

Following the attack, the driver returned to his car, while Pahima stood in front of the vehicle in an attempt to document its license plate. At this point, the driver accelerated toward him, hit him, and drove off with Pahima lying on the hood, all while the victim maintained his emergency call with the police.

Police Intervention and Indictment

Following the report, police officers from the Sderot station rushed to the scene and initiated operations to locate those involved. The officers later succeeded in arresting the suspected driver, along with another suspect who was detained on suspicion of obstructing legal proceedings.

Within about a month of the incident, an indictment was filed against the two individuals. The exposed footage and audio recordings vividly illustrate the moments of peril experienced by Pahima after he attempted to assist two girls who had asked for his help. The case will now be decided by the court.
