Sara Netanyahu presented as "The First Lady", photos of the PM were also retouched
In Israel, the title "The First Lady" is reserved for the wife of the President, but the Prime Minister's Office referred to Sara Netanyahu this way. During the visit to the USA, not only her face was retouched, but also the face of the Prime Minister himself.
The Prime Minister's Office officially presented his wife, Sara Netanyahu, as the first lady of Israel, even though officially the first lady of Israel is the wife of the President, Isaac Herzog, Michal Herzog. Sara was presented as the "First Lady" in photos distributed by the Prime Minister's Office from Netanyahu's meeting with AIPAC leaders at Blair House in Washington.
As in the past, the photos were retouched, and credit for them was given to both Maayan Toaf of the Government Press Office (GPO) and Sara Netanyahu herself. During the current visit, for the first time, photos of Netanyahu himself were also retouched, not just those of his wife. It started at the memorial service for Senator Lindsey Graham, continued in photos distributed from the meeting with leaders of the Evangelical community, and now also at the meeting with AIPAC officials.
Yesterday, the Prime Minister and his wife met in Washington with leaders of the Evangelical community. According to the Prime Minister's Office, the community leaders welcomed Netanyahu for his visit and strengthened him in his struggle against the Iranian axis of evil. The Prime Minister thanked the Evangelicals for their firm and unwavering support for the State of Israel:
"We are the descendants of the original Hebrews from the Holy Land, and we are the first part of that Judeo-Christian heritage, which is dear to our hearts and which gave the world, to human civilization, freedom and faith. And again, we must stand up and defend it. It is under attack from the rising wave of antisemitism and from hatred towards Evangelicals. It is no coincidence that these two groups are attacked together, because we are one."
In conclusion, he said:
"And I ask you only one thing: stand tall. Stand tall and do not flinch. When you face an attack, what do you do? You fight back. I am grateful to you for your consistent support and for the stability of your friendship. And now it is time to fight, fight, fight."
During his visit to Washington, Netanyahu also met with a series of senators, including Tom Cotton, John Fetterman, and Tim Sheehy. Sheehy said: "It is easy to be friends when the sun is shining, but when you are under siege — that is the time when true friends are revealed." Fetterman added: "I am proud to stand with Israel in any situation."
