Without shame: Central Israel resident arrested for burglary of apartment evacuated during Operation "Lion's Roar"

A 60-year-old resident of Tel Aviv was arrested on suspicion of breaking into an apartment that had been evacuated after being hit by Iranian missile fire during Operation "Lion's Roar". According to the police spokesperson, property suspected of being stolen from the apartment, bottles of alcohol, and work tools belonging to staff at the site were found in the suspect's possession.

The arrest took place yesterday during a proactive operation by youth division officers targeting property crimes in central Tel Aviv. During the operation, officers noticed the suspect as he was leaving a site damaged during the recent campaign, while in possession of a large amount of equipment and property.

Officers detained the suspect, and an investigation revealed that he had allegedly broken into the damaged and evacuated apartment shortly before. During a search, items were recovered that were believed to have been taken from the apartment, alongside alcohol bottles and work tools belonging to workers at the location.

Furthermore, the investigation uncovered a suspicion of another property crime. It is alleged that hours before the incident at the apartment, the suspect broke into a restaurant in central Tel Aviv. According to police, the suspect damaged a lock and stole alcohol worth thousands of shekels from the establishment.

Following questioning, the suspect was remanded in custody. He is expected to be brought to court today, where police will request an extension of his detention to continue the investigation. The investigation is ongoing, and the suspicions against him have not yet been adjudicated in court.
