Without air conditioning in the heatwave: 20 hours of nightmare in central Tel Aviv
Power supply on King George and Bar Giora streets in Tel Aviv was cut for about 20 hours after a municipal contractor damaged power cables. Residents were left without air conditioning, and businesses suffered losses until the supply was restored.
A nightmare in the heart of Tel Aviv at the peak of the heat: many residents and business owners living near King George and Bar Giora streets were left without electricity for about 20 hours.
"Around 15:00, the power outage began. We thought it was due to the load following the heavy heatwave, but hours passed and the power was not restored," said a local resident.
"At night, it was impossible to sleep in the heavy heat and high humidity, and only around 11:00 in the morning did the supply begin to return gradually. Some business owners suffered heavy damages following the prolonged outage."
He noted that residents and business owners were helpless, with no information on when power would be restored.
"Some left their homes to stay with relatives or friends. The nightmare continued throughout the heatwave while we were without electricity," he added. "Teams from the Israel Electric Corporation worked constantly in the heat, but it was only towards noon the next day that power was fully restored to all tenants and businesses."
Although repair crews worked for long hours, the severe damage to the infrastructure meant that work continued throughout the night and into the morning.
"A contractor working for the Tel Aviv Municipality on King George Street damaged the Israel Electric Corporation's power cables, causing an outage in the area," the company noted in response to an inquiry by "Maariv". — "Our teams worked continuously throughout the night to repair the damage and restore the power supply."
The Israel Electric Corporation further stated that power was restored to some customers during the night, with work continuing until full restoration for all residents.
