UEFA Revolution: New Champions League Rules Starting Next Season

UEFA has announced two significant rule changes ahead of the upcoming season of the Champions League, Europa League, and Conference League. These changes will directly affect the teams participating in the competitions.

New rules on the pitch

The first change concerns yellow cards: the suspension threshold has been raised. Players will now be suspended for one match only after accumulating four yellow cards, instead of three as was the practice until now.

The second change cancels a long-standing UEFA regulation that prevented stadium clocks from continuing to run beyond the 45th and 90th minutes. From now on, the clocks will continue to run during stoppage time, as has already been implemented in the Premier League for the last two years. These changes come into effect starting from the current qualifying stages of the European competitions.
