Roni Duani Reflects on Past Scandals: "Seeing Myself Exposed"
Roni Duani, known as "Roni Superstar," reflects on her rapid rise in the entertainment industry. She shares memories of the pressure she faced and the 2009 incident where she found herself at the center of a media storm due to a wardrobe malfunction.

From a child prodigy who conquered the stages to a mature media personality and entrepreneur, Roni Duani (or by her legendary name "Roni Superstar") looks back today with a completely new perspective. In the early 2000s, she was the hottest phenomenon in Israeli music, with three successful albums, huge performances at the Festigal, and a constant presence in the gossip columns. With a grueling schedule of six performances an evening and iron discipline, she managed a thriving but also very demanding career.
Today, as she looks at those days, she shares:
"I look at myself from back then and enjoy it, and also say to myself: you are a child, you will be fine."
Duani's rapid rise brought her to the peak of success in the entertainment industry at a very young age. In an interview she gave on the occasion of her 18th birthday, she even naively declared: "I have fulfilled everything, what more could one ask for?" However, alongside the glitz and glamour, the world of advertising also exposed her to more complex sides, especially for a young girl who grew up in the public eye. The well-oiled system that surrounded her always demanded perfection and careful planning.
"I had six performances an evening, everything was always precise; I see the interviews from the past and I see the checkmark on the talking points sheet because I was a child, but I want to tell that girl: let go, breathe," she recalls honestly in an interview with "Good Evening with Guy Pines."
One of the most shocking moments of her career occurred in 2009, at a publicized event where an unpleasant surprise put her at the center of a storm. The camera flashes made her dress transparent, and the pictures flooded the gossip columns and the web. For a young woman, it was not an easy event at all.
"Back then in 2009, it was a very big shock, I was 21. To see myself with my breasts out, even though my breasts are the most perfect in the world, it was a big moment for a 21-year-old girl," she admits today, pointing to the lack of preparation for such situations at such a young age.
Over the years, Duani realized that the ambitions and choices that accompanied her at the beginning of the road no longer serve her as an adult. The desire for balance eventually led her to take a step back from the world of glamour and rethink things.
"Decisions I made at 17, it's okay that they don't fit for age 30, and the reason I made a cut to everything is because the music took over everything," she explains. Today, as she is in a more stable, experienced, and sober place, she looks at the past with compassion and pride and continues to grow at her own pace and in her own way.
