American actor RJ Mitte, globally renowned for his iconic portrayal of Walter White Jr. in the acclaimed drama series Breaking Bad, has passed away at the age of 34, TMZ reported on Monday. According to officials in Texas, his death is being investigated, and sources indicate he took his own life.

Mitte became a prominent figure in American television through his role as the son of Walter White, played by Bryan Cranston, and Skyler White, played by Anna Gunn, in the hit AMC crime drama. Throughout the five seasons of the show, broadcast from 2008 to 2013, he portrayed a teenager coping with his family's collapse and the shocking revelations regarding his father's double life. He appeared in 56 episodes, cementing his place in television history.

Advocacy and Career

Much like his on-screen character, Mitte lived with cerebral palsy, diagnosed during his childhood. Over the years, he utilized his platform to advocate for the rights of individuals with disabilities, campaigning for greater representation within the entertainment industry. In various interviews, he frequently criticized Hollywood for the lack of genuine opportunities for disabled actors.

Following the conclusion of Breaking Bad, Mitte continued his acting career, appearing in films such as The Recall and The Oak Room, as well as the Netflix series The Guardians of Justice. Alongside his screen work, he maintained his dedicated public activism.

"My first Hollywood audition was actually for an anti-drug commercial, years before being chosen for a drama dealing with the devastating consequences of the drug trade," Mitte recently shared on a podcast.

Final Days

Just earlier this month, Mitte reunited with Luis Moncada, his former Breaking Bad co-star, with the two sharing smiles in photos posted to social media. Last October, he became engaged to his partner, Kandi Suarez, following several years of dating.

Mitte's passing comes mere days after an appearance on Joe Wolfis's podcast, where he reflected on his early auditions and cherished memories from the series that transformed his life. Texas authorities are continuing their investigation into the circumstances of his death.
