Rishon LeZion is advancing plans to build Israel's largest indoor sports arena, with a capacity of approximately 12,000 seats, according to local media reports. The ambitious project, spearheaded by Mayor Raz Kinstlich, is slated for the eastern part of the city near the future metro depot.

The initiative carries a price tag estimated in the hundreds of millions of shaikels, with funding expected to come from the municipality. The proposed venue aims to host major sporting events, concerts, and cultural performances, serving local sports teams while significantly expanding the city's entertainment infrastructure.

Once completed, the new facility would surpass the nation's current leading arenas in size. For comparison, the Pais Arena in Jerusalem accommodates about 11,000 spectators, Menora Mivtachim Holdings in Tel Aviv holds 10,383 seats, Holon's Toto Hall has roughly 5,500 seats, and Haifa's Romema Arena contains around 5,000 seats.

The upgrade marks a massive leap for Rishon LeZion, whose current primary basketball venue, Beit Maccabi, seats only 2,500 people. The new complex would multiply the city's hosting capacity nearly fivefold, positioning the municipality as a major national hub for large-scale entertainment and athletics.

Project timelines remain contingent on regulatory approvals, as the arena has not yet secured a building permit. Municipal planners indicate that construction is expected to take approximately three years once official authorization is granted, joining a wave of new sports infrastructure developments across Israel.
