Rina Matzliach Opens Up About Career Exit, Regrets, and Personal Life
A revealing interview between Rina Matzliach and Omri Asenheim touches on media rivalries, her departure from Channel 12, personal life choices, and deep-seated loss.
What started as an attempt to settle an old score between two media figures quickly turned into an intimate and revealing conversation about insults, retirement, motherhood, and loss. At the beginning of the interview with Rina Matzliach, Omri Asenheim announced that it was time to clear the air, bringing up a bitter feud they once had on Twitter.
Matzliach admitted that the words hurt her back then, but clarified that she managed to leave the incident behind. "In real time, I was very hurt. But I got over it. I am a very emotional person," she said in response to Asenheim's confrontation.
From there, the conversation shifted to one of the most sensitive periods in her career, her departure from "Meet the Press". Matzliach shared that she received messages indicating she was expected to end her role, linking it, among other things, to the ratings competition against Ayala Hasson and the desire to change the program's line.
"It was more than hinted to me to leave. At that time, Ayala Hasson was broadcasting opposite me, and her ratings rose against mine, and I think it stressed my managers a bit. And I also think they wanted to bring in more right-wing views," she said.
Matzliach also addressed her departure from Channel 12 entirely, not hiding the emotional crisis she experienced upon ending her tenure at the place where she worked for years. Alongside the pain, she emphasized that the decision itself brings her no regret. "I was very sad when I retired. I cried a lot, but not a single day did I regret retiring."
A particularly personal moment occurred when the conversation touched on the fact that Matzliach does not have children. She shared that in the past she spoke with Dana Weiss about the possibility of going through the process together, but at the crucial moment decided against it. "There was one moment when Dana Weiss told me, 'Let's get pregnant together,' and we sat and talked about it, both of us, and I cried and told her no," she revealed.
During the interview, it was Asenheim's turn to share a staggering memory from his past. He recounted that more than two decades ago, the first time he was supposed to appear in a television studio, his mother passed away.
