Watch: 105-Year-Old Skydives for His Birthday

Spurgeon Carlson, 105, took to the skies last week, performing a skydive at a New York airport. Carlson completed a tandem jump as part of a series of goals he set for himself on his bucket list.

Family members, friends, and local community residents gathered at the airport to witness the feat. His eldest daughter, Miki McAvoy, noted that she initially doubted he would dare to carry out the task, but her father remained insistent on his ability to do so.

The skydive adds to a list of adventurous activities Carlson has pursued at an advanced age; on his 104th birthday, he rode a horse for the first time alongside his 99-year-old brother. According to Guinness World Records, the oldest person to perform a skydive to date was 106 years old. Having just celebrated his 105th birthday, Carlson is now only one year away from the current world record.
