Israel Records Historic Opening for 'Spider-Man: A New Day'
Following a global haul of nearly a billion dollars, 'Spider-Man: A New Day' has shattered all-time records in Israel with over 250,000 tickets sold, surpassing the previous benchmark set by 'Avengers: Endgame'.
Israelis have flocked to the theaters in record numbers. Forum Film, the distributor of Disney and Marvel movies in Israel, announced on Tuesday that the sequel 'Spider-Man: A New Day' sold over 250,000 tickets across the country during its opening weekend. This achievement marks the biggest film opening in local history, surpassing the record previously held by 'Avengers: Endgame'.
The Israeli milestone follows historic global figures, with reports earlier this week confirming that the film, starring Tom Holland and Zendaya, grossed 927 million dollars during its first weekend. The all-time world record remains with 'Avengers: Endgame', which opened with 1.22 billion dollars worldwide.
The new 'Spider-Man' has more than doubled Sony Pictures' initial projections. In the coming days, it is expected to officially become the most successful film of 2026, overtaking 'Toy Story 5', which currently holds the title with 1.065 billion dollars.
