Search and Rescue Operation in the Jordan River Following Disappearance of 12-Year-Old Boy
According to reports received by emergency services, a teenager fell out of a boat and contact was lost. Firefighters and rescue teams conducted an extensive search in the area near Agmon HaHula.
A 12-year-old boy was found today, Sunday, without signs of life in the Jordan River, near Agmon HaHula. Fire and rescue teams worked alongside other specialized units and police forces, conducting extensive searches in the river for approximately one hour.
Rav-Reshef Dror Buchnik, the incident commander, described the operation:
"Firefighters and rescuers from the special rescue unit searched in the water and on the banks, alongside a drone that scanned the river route."
At the conclusion of the search, the teenager was located in the water. MADA paramedic Asaf Perlman and MADA medic Harel Levy stated:
"The Golan rescue unit located the boy and extracted him to us unconscious after he had been underwater. We performed medical checks, but he was without signs of life, and we had no choice but to declare his death."
The initial alert was received at the 102 emergency center, reporting a teenager who had fallen out of a boat. Israel Police forces and other security agencies participated in the search, and a police helicopter was dispatched to the scene.
Last June, the deaths of two girls who were swept away in the Jordan River near Kibbutz Lehavot HaBashan were confirmed: 15-year-old Iman and 13-year-old Hala. Contact with them was lost after they were caught in the current, and the search for them lasted approximately five hours.
