A tragic incident occurred yesterday on the Ramim Ridge, resulting in the death of Elazar Yair Vilansky, a ninth-grade student at the ORT Ma'alot high school. Eliyahu Galil, whose son was on the trip, spoke with 103fm radio about the disaster.

The Explosion During Mincha Prayer

According to Galil, more than half of the group was injured when an unexploded ordnance detonated during afternoon prayers. "They were at Mincha prayer, and suddenly a very loud explosion was heard," Galil said. His son witnessed classmates and teachers sustaining severe injuries and immediately began administering first aid to survivors.

"The injured are still in surgeries, and the children with minor injuries returned to school to process what they experienced. This was supposed to be the opening trip of a special project along the Israel Trail," Galil shared.

Blaming Terror Organizations

Addressing the presence of explosive items, Galil noted that the children likely mistook the remnants for a souvenir or rocket interceptor shrapnel after years of war and air raid sirens near the northern confrontation line. He emphasized that responsibility lies squarely with hostile forces who target civilians.

"The accusing finger should not be pointed at the education minister or the children; the accusing finger must be pointed north, to those who launched such bombs into civilian areas of the State of Israel," Galil stated.
