"Fulfilling a dream": A mother becomes a surrogate for a couple she didn't know

Liz Cohen, a 34-year-old mother of two, decided to serve as a surrogate mother for a couple she did not know before. In an interview with the program "The World This Morning," she shared a moving conversation she had with her eldest son, Sahar, in which she explained the process to him: "I am a surrogate mother. I am helping a couple bring a child into the world." Sahar, who immediately understood the essence, defined it in simple terms as "the one who carries the pregnancy instead of another woman" and summarized the entire process in one captivating sentence: "First of all, a righteous woman."

Cohen shed light on the motives behind her decision, explaining that she views the act as self-fulfillment: "I am happy to fulfill my dream through the fulfillment of their dream," she shared. In addition, Cohen described a close bond with the couple that constitutes a significant part of the process: "I feel connected to them. They come to all the check-ups and will be with me at the birth."
