The State Attorney's Office has filed an indictment in the Beersheba District Court against two Rahat residents, Wisam Abu Zeila (22) and Alaa Abu Zagila (27), after they fired 52 rounds from an M-16 rifle issued to Abu Zeila during his IDF reserve service.

According to the indictment filed by Adv. Idan Ivgi from the Southern District Attorney's Office, Abu Zeila served as an active reserve soldier in the Tsahal, and during his service, an M-16 assault rifle was entrusted to him. About a month ago during the evening hours, the two used the weapon to fire approximately 52 bullets in a residential area in the city of Rahat, and then fled the scene in Abu Zeila's vehicle. Subsequently, the two were arrested in the car with the weapon, a magazine containing about 24 bullets, six empty magazines, and additional military ammunition.

In the motion for detention until the end of proceedings, Adv. Ivgi noted that the defendants made cynical use of military weapons entrusted to one of them during reserve service, carrying out heavy gunfire in the heart of Rahat near residential neighborhoods. The prosecution requested that the court order the forfeiture of the vehicle used by the defendants.
