Rafael Celebrates: System Sold to 25 Navies Worldwide
Rafael's naval weapon system is in service with 25 navies around the world, and the 1,000th unit has now been delivered to the Israeli Navy as part of its ongoing vessel modernization program.
Rafael Advanced Defense Systems has announced a major milestone following the delivery of the 1,000th Typhoon system to the Israeli Navy. This remotely operated naval weapon station is considered one of the most widely used systems in its field, currently serving 25 navies and maritime forces, including those of the USA, Canada, and Australia.
The Typhoon system has been in operational service with the Israeli Navy since 2000. Under the ongoing cooperation between Rafael and the Navy, 30mm Typhoon systems were recently delivered to bolster the defensive and offensive capabilities of vessels, including Sa'ar 6-class corvettes. Rafael notes that additional systems are expected to enter service in the coming years, replacing older units and expanding the Navy's operational capabilities.
The system is designed to counter a wide range of maritime threats, including vessels, UAVs, and drones. It features advanced detection, identification, and tracking capabilities, alongside fire control systems that enable precise interception of small, fast-moving targets. Furthermore, it supports various advanced ammunition types, allowing for rapid switching based on the nature of the threat.
Rafael emphasizes that a key advantage of the Typhoon is its modular design, which allows for easy adaptation to different vessel types and seamless integration according to customer requirements.
