Rabbi Moshe Hadaya, who served for over 70 years as the Chief Sephardic Rabbi of Eilat, passed away on Saturday at the age of 91.

Just a month ago, his son, Rabbi Yair Hadaya, was appointed as the Chief Sephardic Rabbi of Eilat, succeeding his father. His funeral is scheduled to take place on Sunday in Jerusalem.

Rabbi Hadaya was the grandson of the Kabbalist Rabbi Shalom Hadaya, one of the leaders of the Beit El Kabbalistic yeshivah and head of the rabbinical court in Jerusalem, and a relative of Rabbi Ovadia Hadaya.

The municipality of Eilat paid tribute to Rabbi Moshe Mordechai Hadaya, noting his seven decades of service as the city's rabbi and his role as a central spiritual figure. The municipality stated that he accompanied generations of residents through key life moments, established religious institutions including the city's first ritual bath, and worked to unite various segments of the population.

Mayor Eli Lankri expressed his condolences, stating that Eilat has lost its spiritual father and a role model of Torah, leadership, and love for humanity. A memorial assembly is scheduled for Saturday evening at the Pahad Yitzhak synagogue in Eilat.
