Fourth Cancellation on the Road to the End: What Is Happening with Rod Stewart?
The veteran singer cancelled a performance at the last minute due to a mechanical issue with his plane, with the rescheduled date set for 2027. This marks the fourth cancellation on Stewart’s current tour, which is billed as his final world tour.
It seems that veteran rocker Rod Stewart, 81, is having a hard time reaching the stage lately. This time, fans at Niagara Falls were left with tickets in hand after the singer cancelled his performance at the Fallsview Casino Resort just hours before it was scheduled to begin.
The official reason for the disruption: a mechanical malfunction in his plane's landing gear that prevented him from reaching his destination. Stewart rushed to post an apology on his Instagram story and promised to compensate the audience, but the new date has been set for March 4, 2027—fans will have to wait until then to see him.
This is not the first time Stewart has drawn fire during his current tour, which is defined as his final major concert tour in the world's largest venues. This is his fourth cancellation on this tour alone. As recalled, just last June, he cancelled a performance in California due to a severe respiratory infection and laryngitis.
What infuriated fans at the time was the fact that the singer was spotted enjoying a World Cup match just hours after the "medical" cancellation. Stewart later admitted that it "did not look good," but explained that he attended the game so as not to disappoint his two sons, Alastair (20) and Liam (31).
Despite health troubles and mechanical failures, Stewart, who began his career in the band Faces in the 70s, insists that he has no intention of retiring. He declares with pride that he is still in peak condition, with a "full head of hair" and the ability to run 100 meters in 18 seconds. While he plans to move to more intimate performances in swing clubs in the future, it seems that for now, fans will mainly have to hope that his planes manage to land on time.
