Qatar Expands Energy Involvement in Lebanon with New Electricity and Gas Projects
Qatar and Lebanon are preparing a memorandum of understanding for an electricity and gas supply project to be executed by the Qatari company UCC via Syria.

Qatar is set to expand its involvement in Lebanon through a major energy initiative. According to reports by the Lebanese broadcaster LBCI, Qatar and Lebanon are preparing a memorandum of understanding for a new electricity project. The agreement will outline project details and require formal government approval through a bilateral intergovernmental accord.
Once finalized, the project will be executed by the Qatari company UCC. During the first six months, the firm is expected to supply electricity through Syria, followed by broader infrastructure expansion. UCC has already provided a grant of 1.5 million dollars to repair the natural gas pipeline connecting Syria to Lebanon.
The UCC conglomerate was founded by prominent Qatari businessmen who maintain close ties to the family of Qatari Emir Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani. Additional energy projects are projected to significantly increase Lebanon's power supply over the next two years.
