Israeli Bus Companies Fined Over 184 Million Shekels for Service Violations
Israeli public transport companies paid over 184 million shekels in fines in 2025, with Tnufa leading the list, followed by continued penalties in early 2026.
Public transport companies in Israel were hit with over 184 million shekels in fines during 2025 due to various violations related to bus services. The trend of heavy fines continued into the early months of 2026, with operators paying tens of millions of shekels more.
According to data published by TheMarker, bus companies were fined by the Ministry of Transport a total exceeding 184 million shekels throughout 2025. Tnufa topped the list of penalized operators, absorbing fines amounting to 35.4 million shekels from the National Public Transport Authority. Metropoline ranked second with 32.3 million shekels in fines, followed by Dan with 29 million shekels.
The issuing of financial penalties against public transport providers persisted into 2026, driven largely by persistent service delays and scheduling failures. Ministry of Transport figures show that between January and May of this year, companies paid over 62.7 million shekels in fines.
Tnufa once again led the list during this period, accumulating over 19 million shekels in penalties within just five months. Extra Jerusalem placed second with more than 8.7 million shekels in fines. Metropoline was penalized 6.7 million shekels, Kavim incurred 4.6 million shekels, and Dan paid 4.5 million shekels.
The figures highlight the substantial scale of penalties imposed on public transport operators over a relatively short timeframe, with Tnufa leading the rankings across both 2025 and early 2026.
