First publication: Suspect arrested for stealing vehicle batteries in Be'er Sheva
Police officers from the Be'er Sheva station arrested a young man from Tel Sheva after discovering three suspected stolen batteries in his vehicle. The arrest followed a report of a car break-in in the city.
Police have arrested a man in his twenties from Tel Sheva on suspicion of breaking into vehicles and stealing batteries in Be'er Sheva. The suspect was apprehended yesterday after officers blocked his vehicle and discovered the stolen items inside. Today, Monday, he is scheduled to appear at the Magistrate's Court in the city for a detention hearing.
The incident began yesterday following a report of a break-in to a parked car and the theft of its battery. Shortly thereafter, patrol units identified a vehicle that aroused their suspicion, which they believed was being used by the suspect for a string of thefts across the city.
Officers blocked the vehicle's path and arrested the driver. A search of the car revealed three batteries allegedly stolen from different vehicles earlier that day. The suspect and the recovered property were taken to the local police station for questioning.
Commander of the Be'er Sheva police station, Colonel Kfir Solomon, stated:
«The officers of the Be'er Sheva station act with determination and zero tolerance against property crimes that harm the public's sense of security. The quick arrest and the seizure of the property suspected as stolen are the result of professional, focused, and determined activity, and we will continue to act to locate criminals to bring them to justice and return the property to its owners.»
