Conflicting Reports and Official Denials
According to Slovenian police, emergency services received a report around 03:00 regarding a Polish citizen who was injured after a fall at a foreign diplomatic mission's premises. Initial media reports claimed the man fell from a third-floor window of a consular or embassy-adjacent building. However, Slovenian police later stated that the information indicated a fall from a balcony under yet-unclear circumstances.
The Polish Ministry of Foreign Affairs strongly denied reports that the employee fell from a window, though it did not provide a detailed alternative explanation. Warsaw also pushed back against initial descriptions identifying the injured man as the head of diplomatic security, clarifying instead that he is a regular department employee who was visiting Slovenia privately on vacation and staying at an embassy employee's apartment.
Diplomatic Immunity and Lack of Police Investigation
The circumstances of the accident remain shrouded in mystery partly due to the location. Slovenian police announced they would not investigate the case because the site enjoys diplomatic immunity under the Vienna Convention, meaning local officers could not enter without consent from the mission.
