Haifa Beaches: Ministry of Health Provides Update on Water Quality
Following the closure of Haifa's beaches earlier this week, the Ministry of Health and the Haifa Municipality announce that the Naot beach in Kiryat Haim has reopened for swimming following normal sampling results. The swimming ban at Bat Galim remains in effect.
Another positive development for bathers in the northern region. The Haifa Municipality announced today that, following the results of sea water sampling received, the Ministry of Health has approved the reopening of Naot beach in Kiryat Haim for swimming. Meanwhile, visitors will have to wait a little longer regarding Bat Galim beach, where the swimming ban remains in effect in accordance with the ministry's guidelines. The public is requested not to enter the water in that area until further notice.
The current update follows a series of events that began earlier this week, when the Ministry of Health instructed the public to vacate Haifa's beaches and completely avoid entering the sea. This order was issued after abnormal sampling results raised serious concerns about water quality due to microbial contamination.
Later in the week, normal results were received in repeat tests, allowing for the return to normal operation of many beaches in the city, including Dado, Zamir, Hof HaCarmel, Students' beach, and the Quiet beach.
Now, with the approval of Naot beach in Kiryat Haim, only Bat Galim beach remains under an active swimming warning. The Haifa Municipality and the Ministry of Health will continue to closely monitor test results and publish updates based on findings on the ground.
The Ministry of Health reiterates that even when a warning is lifted, swimming is permitted only on declared beaches where active lifeguard services are present, and they ask the public to continue to stay updated on the guidelines.
