Two children were killed and two others injured in a tragic electrocution incident during a school event in the Philippines.

The accident occurred at the Cauayan South Central School campus in the city of Cauayan during a foam party held at the conclusion of a fun run, according to reports by China Times. The race, which involved more than 1,000 students and parents, started early in the morning and was organized by the school in collaboration with the parent-teacher association.

Around 6:20 AM, as participants returned to the campus to join the foam celebration, a sudden electrical failure occurred. Eyewitnesses and parents reported hearing an unusual buzzing sound from a power source, followed by children lying motionless inside the foam.

Medical teams rushed to the scene performed CPR, but the two children were pronounced dead shortly after arriving at the hospital. Additionally, a 9-year-old boy suffering from hand burns was discharged, while a 6-year-old remains hospitalized under observation.

Preliminary Investigation Points to Electrical Leakage

Initial police findings suggest that a short circuit or current leakage from the foam machine, combined with the wet ground, caused a fatal electrical current to pass directly onto the surface where the children were playing.

Witnesses described moments of panic as bystanders attempted to pull the children from the foam at great personal risk. Investigators have confiscated the foam machine and power cables to determine whether faulty wiring, improper grounding, or moisture infiltration caused the disaster. Meanwhile, the Philippine Department of Education launched a separate investigation and vowed to hold accountable anyone found negligent.
