Newborn Baby Found Alive in Trash Can at Malaysia Airport
A newborn baby with umbilical cord attached was found alive in a restroom trash can at Penang International Airport. Malaysian police have arrested two suspects, including the alleged mother.
A shocking incident unfolded at Penang International Airport in Malaysia, where a newborn baby was found alive inside a sanitary bin in one of the airport's restrooms. The infant, still attached to the umbilical cord and placenta, was rushed to Penang Hospital for immediate medical treatment.
Police have arrested two individuals in connection with the case. The investigation is being conducted under Section 317 of the Malaysian Penal Code, which addresses the abandonment of a child under the age of 12 by a parent or guardian.
Discovery in the Restroom
According to a report by Malaysian news outlet FMT News, a cleaning lady discovered the baby after hearing cries coming from the bin. Shortly after, two men, including one wearing a customs uniform, arrived at the scene. Footage circulated online shows the two carefully lifting the crying infant out of the bin, which was lined with a blue plastic bag.
In the published footage, the baby appears exceptionally small, barely larger than two adult hands. After being removed from the bin, the newborn was brought to a nearby sink, following instructions heard from behind the camera.
Arrests and Police Investigation
Penang Southwest District Police Chief Anuar Abdul Wahab stated that authorities initially arrested a local woman suspected of being the baby's mother. Subsequently, police arrested a 22-year-old male Myanmar national, who works as a security guard, in the Bukit Jambul area.
Additionally, reports indicated that the male suspect failed to produce valid travel documents. Forensic officers from the Penang police headquarters arrived at the scene to conduct a thorough investigation and collected physical evidence for analysis as the investigation continues.
