No less than 162 kg: Suspect in avocado theft caught red-handed in Moshav Yesodot

During an operation by fighters of the Border Police (Magav) Central District near Moshav Yesodot, a vehicle was located containing 162 kg of avocados suspected to be stolen. The fighters identified a suspect who was near the vehicle and detained him, and a representative of the moshav who was summoned found that the avocados were of a variety grown in the agricultural fields of the settlement.

During an operation on Tuesday, fighters from the Border Police (Magav) Central District noticed a suspicious vehicle in one of the agricultural fields near Moshav Yesodot in the Nahal Sorek Regional Council.

Upon checking the vehicle, they found a large quantity of avocados in the trunk, suspected to be stolen. The officers detained a suspect found near the vehicle. A representative from the moshav, summoned to the scene, confirmed that the avocados were of a variety grown in the settlement's fields. After weighing, the total amount was found to be 162 kg.

The suspect was arrested and transferred for further investigation, while the vehicle and the stolen goods were seized.

This seizure highlights the ongoing concern among local farmers regarding the theft of agricultural produce, particularly during peak harvest periods. For the farmers, such crimes represent not only a loss of crops but also a significant economic blow and the loss of labor invested throughout the season.
