Paris Basketball fell 98:96 to ASVEL in the EuroLeague despite a career-high 30 points from Nadir Hifi, who missed a late game-winning three-pointer.
Despite a stellar performance by Nadir Hifi, Paris Basketball suffered a narrow 98:96 defeat to LDLC ASVEL on Wednesday evening in the opening game of the EuroLeague's fourth round. Hifi scored a career-high 30 points, keeping his team in contention until the final second, but missed a potential game-winning three-pointer.
The French derby delivered an exciting, high-scoring affair as both teams combined for 29 three-pointers. Neither side managed to build a significant lead, leaving the outcome to be decided in the dramatic final minutes.
Hifi, who clearly stood out as the hosts' best player, committed a crucial turnover near the end. Shortly after, Tremont Waters gave ASVEL the lead entering the final minute. With ten seconds left, Joel Bolomboy made one of two free throws to set the score at 98:96.
Paris still had one final opportunity. Hifi took the decisive shot from beyond the arc, but the ball bounced out, allowing ASVEL to celebrate their second away victory of the season.
Patty Mills led the winners with 21 points, Waters added 19, and Booth Gach contributed 17. On the other side, Hifi's 30 points marked a EuroLeague career high, but they were not enough for Paris, whose record dropped to 3:1.
