'Dad killed Mom': 5-year-old boy exposed the murder of his pregnant mother
Tragedy in India: A man was arrested on suspicion of murdering his wife, who was in her eighth month of pregnancy, following an argument over alcohol. The suspect attempted to mislead police, but his 5-year-old son contradicted his account.
A chilling drama unfolded in the village of Bijari in the state of Uttar Pradesh, northern India, where a local man was arrested on suspicion of murdering his wife, Manisha, who was in her eighth month of pregnancy. The incident followed an argument over his alcohol consumption. According to a report in the daily newspaper 'Dainik Jagran', the crime occurred on Friday night while their young children, aged 5 and 2, were inside the home.
Immediately after the act, the suspect, Hanif Mansuri, called the police and attempted to mislead investigators with a fabricated story. However, his version of events collapsed quickly due to the chilling testimony of his 5-year-old son, Faizan, who told responding officers:
'Dad killed Mom.'
Gambling, alcohol, and prolonged violence
Family members of the deceased stated that Manisha had suffered for years from severe and prolonged physical abuse at the hands of her husband, particularly when he was under the influence of alcohol. The investigation revealed that Mansuri was heavily addicted to alcohol and gambling, and had even sold agricultural land owned by the family to fund his addictions.
The couple married in 2021 and had two children. Following a formal complaint filed by the victim's brother, Rafiq, a murder case was opened against Mansuri, and he was taken into custody.
According to a report by the India Today network, even the suspect's father, Suleiman, refused to defend his son and publicly called on authorities to impose the most severe punishment allowed by law, up to the death penalty.
