Bankrupt Israeli Real Estate Figure Promotes Venture Despite Court Ban
Bankrupt Israeli real estate figure Oren Kobi, currently under electronic house arrest and criminal indictment, is promoting a new global venture in violation of court orders.
A social media account on X under the name Oren Kobi has been promoting a global real estate and technology venture named Landmark, despite the former real estate figure being a bankrupt criminal defendant currently under house arrest with electronic monitoring.
Fake Media Coverage and Investigations
Earlier this month, the X account published a fabricated news article disguised as a front page of the Globes newspaper, headlined "The man who sold lands worth hundreds of millions in Israel is now building a global platform." The fake report included fabricated quotes from Kobi boasting of upcoming billion-dollar sales and international public offerings. Following an inquiry from Globes, the post was promptly deleted.
Kobi currently faces four criminal indictments. Two were filed in 2020, initiating ongoing proceedings in the Tel Aviv District Court over alleged agricultural land fraud, theft, money laundering exceeding 20 million shekels, and creditor fraud totaling 70 million shekels following the collapse of his Adama group companies.
House Arrest and Judicial Rulings
A new investigation was launched against Kobi in late 2024 after Globes revealed his involvement in a new land sales venture in direct violation of a court order barring him from engaging in real estate. A corresponding indictment was filed in May 2025.
After spending eight months in custody, Kobi was released to electronic house arrest in January. While the probation service recommended continued detention due to his manipulative profile, Tel Aviv District Court Judge Alaa Masarwa ruled in favor of release.
"I believe that placing the applicant back under electronic house arrest with strict and reliable supervision, unlike previous inadequate supervisors, sufficiently addresses the danger posed by the applicant," Judge Masarwa stated.
In response, Oren Kobi stated:
"In my view, the criminal case against me is weakening. I reject the charges and believe a full review of the evidence will reveal the true picture. I no longer manage business activities in Israel, focusing my energy instead on building an international venture."
Legal authorities remind that Oren Kobi has not been convicted and maintains the presumption of innocence.
