ONE ZERO Digital Bank Cuts 10% of Workforce Amid AI Integration
ONE ZERO Digital Bank announced plans to lay off 10% of its workforce, impacting 25 to 30 employees, as CEO Eyal Gafni cited rapid advancements in artificial intelligence and automation.
ONE ZERO Digital Bank is laying off approximately 10% of its workforce, amounting to 25 to 30 employees, as part of a strategic restructuring announced by CEO Eyal Gafni in a letter to staff on Sunday.
Artificial Intelligence and Efficiency
Gafni attributed the reduction largely to the rapid integration of generative artificial intelligence and advanced automation. He noted that tools such as Ella, the bank's proprietary AI system, allow remaining employees to focus on complex tasks requiring human judgment and expertise while streamlining operations.
"The rapid development of GenAI is already changing the way organizations work, develop products, and serve customers," Gafni wrote to the employees.
Financial Performance and Growth
The layoffs coincide with improved financial metrics for the digital bank. ONE ZERO recently surpassed the threshold of 200,000 customers. During the first half of 2026, revenues surged by 33% to 66 million NIS, while expenses dropped by 10% to 149 million NIS, narrowing the bank's net loss by 27% to 84 million NIS.
Management emphasized that the bank is transitioning from its initial infrastructure-building phase to sustainable expansion amid intensifying competition in the financial sector.
