Oklahoma Mother Sentenced to Seven Life Terms Over Child Abuse Case
An Oklahoma court sentenced Cherie Dawn Walker to seven consecutive life sentences after her 11-year-old daughter gave birth to a child fathered by her stepfather.

A court in Muskogee County, Oklahoma, sentenced 34-year-old Cherie Dawn Walker to seven consecutive life sentences on Friday, October 30. Walker was convicted in July of enabling child sexual abuse and six counts of child neglect after her 11-year-old daughter gave birth to a baby fathered by her stepfather.
The case came to light in August 2025 when the girl was brought to a hospital following a home birth without medical assistance. Medical staff alerted authorities, and an investigation revealed that the victim received no prenatal care. DNA testing subsequently confirmed that Dustin Walker, the mother's husband and the girl's stepfather, fathered the child.
According to prosecutors, the mother knew about the abuse and failed to stop it. Although the couple initially claimed they were unaware of the pregnancy, a jury found the mother guilty on all seven counts in July, and Judge Timothy King accepted the jury's recommendation for life sentences on each count.
Horrific Living Conditions and Neglect
The investigation also exposed the appalling living conditions of the six children in the household. Court documents revealed that the home was contaminated with animal feces and lacked running water. All the children were removed from the premises following the discovery.
Prosecutor Janet Hutson described the severe trauma endured by the victim, noting that the young girl had also been pulled out of school prior to the disclosure, which prevented outsiders from noticing the pregnancy and intervening.
Sentencing of the Stepfather
The stepfather previously pleaded guilty to child sexual abuse of a victim under 12 and six counts of child neglect. In June, he was sentenced to life imprisonment for the sexual abuse, alongside additional prison terms for the neglect charges.
