Knesset Speaker Ohana Discusses Pre-October 7 Egyptian Warnings and Security
Knesset Speaker Amir Ohana addressed claims regarding Egyptian intelligence warnings before October 7, while stressing that upcoming elections will not impact Israeli security operations.
Knesset Speaker Amir Ohana stated during an interview on Reshet Bet that Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu did not meet with Egyptian intelligence chief Abbas Kamel shortly before October 7. Ohana noted that while Kamel visited, the exact nature of meetings requires clarification.
Egyptian Warning and Netanyahu's Response
The statements follow a December 2025 report revealing an Egyptian delegation landed in Israel weeks before the massacre, warning that the situation in Gaza was explosive. During an interview on Channel 14, Netanyahu confirmed the plane landed but denied meeting Kamel, stating he was at a memorial ceremony.
"When does an intelligence chief speak with a head of state? There is no such thing. It never happened to me once," Netanyahu claimed.
Security Operations and Elections
Addressing potential military actions involving Iran ahead of the upcoming elections, Ohana emphasized that political schedules do not dictate security decisions. He noted that any operation would have the backing of security chiefs and the United States.
