A massive panic erupted at Expo Tel Aviv during a concert by DJ Ofer Nissim when tear gas was sprayed inside Pavilion 1, causing dozens of partygoers to cough and struggle for breathing. The incident occurred around 01:15, forcing thousands to rush toward the exits.
Incident Details and Eyewitness Accounts
The event, known as the Sukkot Concert, began at 19:30 and was scheduled to run deep into the night. Attendees reported that a group of individuals intentionally sprayed the gas near the center of the dance floor, leading to immediate chaos and severe irritation.
"I physically saw them positioning themselves next to us in the middle of the floor, saying 'this is a good spot,' and starting to spray," recounted Yehiam, one of the participants.
Another attendee, Yafit, described the sudden panic on social media, noting that a herd of people rushed outside gasping for air and coughing continuously. Meanwhile, another participant named Talia stated that she had to visit the emergency room due to the effects of the gas.
Police and Security Response
Israel Police stated that the event was under civilian management and that initial findings indicate the tear gas was directed at the security guards. Authorities confirmed that the suspect's identity is known, but they are currently awaiting a formal complaint from the security personnel to proceed with an arrest.
In addition to the gas spraying, allegations emerged regarding security misconduct. A participant named Gal claimed that his friends were assaulted by security guards due to a case of mistaken identity and subsequently required medical treatment at Ichilov Hospital.
