October Council Warns of Protocol Tampering Concerning October 7 Events
The October Council has urged Israeli officials to investigate alleged protocol tampering and threats against stenographers regarding October 7 documents, citing serious fears of evidence concealment.

The October Council, an organization representing October 7 massacre survivors, bereaved families, and released hostages, has submitted an urgent appeal to Shin Bet Director David Zini, Attorney General Gali Baharav-Miara, Cabinet Secretary Yossi Fuchs, and State Archivist Ruti Abramovitch, warning of potential evidence tampering concerning the massacre by individuals close to Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
According to the letter, insiders close to the Prime Minister allegedly "threatened stenographers to alter official protocols." This appeal follows revelations from July 2024 by Nadav Eyal in Yedioth Ahronoth, which disclosed that Netanyahu's military secretary during the massacre, Maj. Gen. (res.) Avi Gil, had approached the Attorney General with concerns over attempts to alter cabinet protocols and security phone transcripts during the war.
Former Military Secretary Avi Gil previously stated in media interviews that he noticed close associates of Netanyahu collecting disproportionate materials early in the conflict. He detailed an incident where a stenographer in the Prime Minister's Office reported that former Chief of Staff Tzachi Braverman demanded she change the timestamp of a call between Gil and Netanyahu on the morning of October 7.
When asked why Braverman would do this, Gil suggested it was part of an effort to establish a narrative framing the Prime Minister as the sole functioning official during the chaos. Another darker scenario raised by Gil involves manipulating the timeline of intelligence briefings to obscure critical foreknowledge of the impending attack. The October Council emphasized that the stenographers acted heroically by reporting these irregularities, raising serious questions about how many other documents may have been compromised.
