Nvidia's exceptional surge has made it the world's largest company, with its market capitalization crossing the historic $5 trillion threshold. This milestone follows a nearly tenfold increase in the company's share price over the past five years, driven entirely by the artificial intelligence revolution. Investment advisory firm The Motley Fool is now exploring whether Nvidia can replicate this historic success and achieve another tenfold surge over the next five years.

Is a $50 Trillion Valuation Realistic?

A tenfold increase would propel Nvidia's market capitalization to a staggering $50 trillion. According to Visual Capitalist data, global gross domestic product is projected to reach $150 trillion by 2030. This would mean Nvidia alone would account for one-third of the entire global economy, compared to just 4% today. While such a scenario appears entirely implausible, it does not mean the company lacks significant room for continued growth.

Global spending on artificial intelligence infrastructure shows no signs of slowing down. The five largest technology companies are expected to pour approximately $800 billion into infrastructure this year, a figure projected to climb to $1.3 trillion by 2027. According to research firm Dell'Oro, annual data center spending could surpass the $3 trillion mark by 2030, with one-third of that capital directed straight into AI accelerators.

The Economic Potential of the Chip Market

Nvidia currently commands roughly 80% of the market for AI accelerators while actively expanding into other highly profitable domains, such as server processors. According to The Motley Fool, if the company maintains its dominant market position, its revenue from AI accelerators alone could reach $800 billion in five years. This represents an enormous leap from the projected $194 billion in data center revenue forecasted for fiscal year 2026.

"If this growth rate is maintained, earnings per share could reach $75.54 in five years, making the stock exceptionally intriguing as it trades at a forward P/E multiple of just 24."

Estimates suggest Nvidia's earnings per share could compound at an annual rate of 52% over the long term. Under a conservative price-to-earnings multiple of 21, the stock price could climb to $1,586—marking a 7.5x increase from its current level.
