Nscale, a cloud computing provider specializing in infrastructure for artificial intelligence models, has filed for an initial public offering on the New York Stock Exchange under the ticker symbol NSCL. According to CNBC, in the six months ended June 30, the company recorded a net loss of $1.02 billion on revenue of $140.6 million, based on the filing documents. During the same period last year, the company posted a net loss of $368.9 million and revenue of just $10.4 million. Nscale also reported $56.4 billion in remaining performance obligations.

Market Competition and Major Clients

Nscale's competitors include leading cloud infrastructure providers like Amazon, as well as younger, AI-focused providers such as CoreWeave and Nebius, known as neoclouds. Companies like OpenAI, Anthropic, and others have been consuming increasing amounts of computing power since the launch of ChatGPT in 2022, as more users rely on generative AI for coding, performance enhancement, and chat applications. As a result, these companies' spending on computing power has surged, and they are planning their own offerings.

Leadership and Corporate Growth

Both companies have signed agreements with Nscale, which rents out Nvidia graphics processing units for model training and execution. Microsoft, a cloud provider itself, has also signed an agreement with Nscale. However, an undisclosed customer accounted for more than half of Nscale's revenue in the first half of 2026. Recently, Nscale began diversifying its service offerings, handling inference requests for a range of models. In July, it announced plans to acquire Anyscale, whose software helps build AI models.

London-based Nscale employed more than 1,000 full-time workers as of August 31. The company emerged in 2024 after being spun off from crypto mining firm Arkon Energy. Its investors include Blue Owl, Nvidia, Fidelity, and Point72. In March, the company reported that investors valued it at approximately $14.6 billion in a funding round. Nvidia has agreed to provide up to $860 million in guarantees for Nscale's obligations regarding a data center lease agreement in Texas, according to the IPO filings.
