Ahead of the upcoming Jewish High Holidays, Israel's National Security Council (NSC) released its updated threat assessment for Israelis traveling abroad. The NSC emphasized that the publication aims to raise public awareness and encourage preventive action rather than issue new travel warnings.
According to the assessment, the ongoing conflict with Iran, Hezbollah, and Hamas has significantly expanded the scale of risks faced by Israelis globally. Alongside active plotting by these groups, an escalation in anti-Israel incitement has sharply increased the motivation of terror elements to target Jewish and Israeli sites. The NSC highlighted the upcoming anniversary of the October 7 massacre as a potential flashpoint for both protests and targeted attacks.
Iran and Proxies Drive Global Terror Plots
The NSC identified Iran and its proxies as the primary drivers of global terror campaigns targeting Israelis and Jews worldwide:
"The Iranian leadership remains highly motivated by a desire for revenge following the setbacks it has suffered in recent years."
To execute these attacks, Iran utilizes its intelligence apparatus alongside various proxies, including international criminal organizations. Their efforts focus on targeting Israeli diplomatic missions, security personnel, community institutions, and tourists.
High-Risk Destinations and Travel Restrictions
The NSC outlined specific regions where the threat level remains critical:

Countries bordering Iran: Due to geographical proximity, Azerbaijan, Turkey, and the UAE remain highly vulnerable to Iranian terror infrastructure.

Level 4 Travel Warnings: Israelis must completely avoid visiting Jordan, Egypt (including the Sinai Peninsula), and Qatar.

Transit Flights: Travelers should avoid connection flights in countries designated with a Level 4 threat level.

Strictly Prohibited Countries: Under Israeli law, travel to Iraq (including Kurdistan), Yemen, Iran, Syria, and Lebanon is strictly forbidden and poses an immediate threat to life.
