"We are no longer friends": Ilan Rosenfeld opens up about the rift with Kobi Faraj

The ongoing rift between "The Pyjamas" stars Kobi Faraj and Ilan Rosenfeld continues to spark significant interest among the audience that grew up on the legendary series. Rosenfeld, who has spent recent years primarily behind the scenes as a writer and creator, spoke openly about his complex relationship with Faraj and explained how a long-standing friendship gradually faded over time.
"Tell me, do you have friends who were really close in the army or in childhood, but the connection drifted apart? So that's what happened with Kobi," shared Rosenfeld candidly.
He clarified that the rift did not stem from a loud conflict or major drama, but simply from a natural process of drifting apart. "It's not that there was a big explosion. He was a very good friend of mine, like a brother. Over time, the connection was severed. Kobi chose to go his own way, and he disconnected from us in terms of friendship as well. I miss the Kobi of the past. I don't know the Kobi of today. Even when we meet, it's just a 'hello, hello'," he shared in an interview with YNET.
When asked about the possibility of fighting for the relationship or restoring it, Rosenfeld clarified that he does not make a habit of chasing people. He explained that he is not the type to struggle to maintain connections; he tries not to chase after others, nor does he want them to chase after him, believing that if it doesn't happen naturally, it shouldn't be forced.
The distancing between the two became even more prominent against the backdrop of the close relationship Rosenfeld has maintained with the third member of the group, Oded Paz. According to social media and their public appearances, they seem to be constantly together, while the personal connection with Kobi has slowly faded away.
Despite the physical and emotional distance, Rosenfeld emphasizes that the affection and basic appreciation still exist. He says he loves him very much and would be there if Kobi ever needed anything, but he notes: "We are no longer friends."
