Norwegian Teen Sentenced to 20 Years in UK for Foxtrot Hit Plot
A Norwegian teen was sentenced to 20 years in the UK for plotting a contract killing for the Iranian-backed Swedish criminal network Foxtrot.
A 19-year-old Norwegian man was sentenced in the United Kingdom to 20 years in prison after being convicted of plotting an assassination for the Swedish criminal network "Foxtrot". The network is backed by the Iranian regime and has been sanctioned by the US and the UK for activities targeting Israeli and Jewish sites in Europe.
The Foxtrot Plot in Britain
Johannes Kongsnes Netland arrived in the UK from Norway on March 17, 2025, shortly after turning 18, after agreeing to carry out a murder for 25,000 euros. After landing at Manchester Airport, he received instruction videos via Signal leading him to Huddersfield, where weapons, a stolen car, and cash were stashed for him.
The plot was foiled after Norwegian police arrested the man who recruited Netland, finding Signal correspondence on his phone that exposed the British conspiracy. Netland was arrested in a hotel room before he could execute the hit.
Iranian Proxies in Europe
According to London police, Netland was operated by an individual tied to Foxtrot, one of Sweden's most prominent criminal groups. The network is involved in drug trafficking, weapon smuggling, assassinations, and violence.
Foxtrot has been directly linked by US and UK authorities to operations for the Iranian regime. In March 2025, Washington imposed sanctions on the network and its leader, Rawa Majid, for carrying out the attack on the Israeli embassy in Stockholm in January 2024.
Western Security Warnings
The use of Foxtrot reflects a broader operational method attributed to Iran: employing local criminal networks as proxies rather than relying solely on Iranian agents. UK authorities have warned that since early 2022, they have tackled over 20 Iran-backed plots.
