Confrontation Line Forum Demands Budget Exemption

Moshe Davidovitch, chairman of the Confrontation Line Forum and head of the Mateh Asher Regional Council, has sent an urgent letter to Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, demanding that budgets for northern communities be entirely excluded from upcoming government spending cuts.

Ahead of Sunday's scheduled cabinet vote on sweeping budget reductions, Davidovitch stressed that cutting funds would severely undermine regional security and cancel crucial rehabilitation programs.

"As you explicitly promised in a meeting with Confrontation Line Forum leaders, these budgets must be protected from any direct or indirect cuts," Davidovitch wrote.

Core Demands for Northern Resilience

The forum's demands focus heavily on protecting essential services and infrastructure in an area that has faced severe security and socioeconomic challenges for over three years. Key areas slated for protection include:

  • The "Magen Tsafon" (Northern Shield) program for residential and institutional fortification.

  • Essential funding for education, welfare, subsidized daycares, healthcare, employment, and demographic growth.

  • Balancing grants from the Ministry of Interior for local authorities.

Davidovitch urged Benjamin Netanyahu to immediately instruct Cabinet Secretary Yossi Fox to explicitly enshrine these exemptions in the final government decision text, ensuring northern communities retain the support necessary for community resilience and recovery.
