Protests and Tension During Leadership Visit to Tel Aviv Market
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Knesset Speaker Amir Ohana faced hostile shouts and verbal altercations during a visit to the Hatikva Market in Tel Aviv. At the same time, families of hostages and bereaved families gathered at the site to demand accountability for the security failures of October 7.
Clashes and Confrontations on the Ground
Footage from the scene captured citizens shouting accusations at the prime minister, with one person yelling, "You transferred billions to Hamas." Meanwhile, police officers were seen pushing away bereaved family members and relatives of hostages who attempted to approach the delegation.
Among the protesters were Einav Zangauker, mother of hostage Matan Zangauker, Michel Ilouz, father of the late Guy Ilouz who was murdered in Hamas captivity, and Gil Dickman, cousin of the late Carmel Gat. The families sought to convey a clear message that everyone who held responsibility on October 7 must step down.
"While I came to protest against the prime minister for abandoning my firstborn son to die in captivity, shameless citizens resorted to violence against me," stated Michel Ilouz following the incident.
Public Reactions and Demands for Accountability
The arrival of the families also drew hostile reactions from some market-goers, who shouted at them to leave. According to the families' reports, Michel Ilouz was physically attacked by a bystander during the commotion. The incident highlights the deep societal tensions surrounding the ongoing war in Gaza and the enduring grief of the families demanding answers from the political leadership.
