Is Netanyahu parting ways with Channel 14? He chose Channel 16 for his address
Prime Minister and Likud chairman Benjamin Netanyahu addressed voters during the party primaries while holding a microphone from the new Channel 16. The choice of platform has sparked speculation over whether the move was intentional.
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his wife, Sara Netanyahu, arrived earlier today, Monday, to cast their votes in the Likud primaries, an event currently drawing significant media coverage.
In an unusual move, Netanyahu addressed the media following the vote while holding a microphone from the new Channel 16. He took the opportunity to speak directly to Likud voters:
"You know who to choose for Likud; I trust you. I tell you: go vote, go influence. Together, we will choose the winning team to prevail in the upcoming elections. This is vital for the State of Israel."
Netanyahu, who rarely holds a microphone during press statements, chose the equipment of the new Channel 16, which is currently in its pre-launch test phase. The channel held a special broadcast day from the voting site, and while i24News aired the Prime Minister's remarks, other major networks did not.
Channel 16's Roadmap
Channel 16 plans to conclude its test broadcasts in 105 days. In the meantime, it is assembling its broadcast schedule and talent roster. The news desk, managed by Ziv Kroytoru, will feature Shlomi Gil (political field), Shay Levi (military correspondent), Yael Lavie (US envoy), Saar Elimelech (sports), and Daniel Tzioni (culture), with Yaakov Eilon hosting the main news edition.
Yael Bar Zohar is set to lead the channel's new morning slot, while Eilon Levy will host a daily news segment covering international affairs. Tzvika Hadar is also among the notable figures joining the network.
