Netanya Resident Indicted for Drug Trafficking and Driving While Disqualified
An indictment was filed against a Netanya resident caught driving under a license suspension with large drug quantities, including transactions involving a minor.
An indictment was filed this week against a 30-year-old resident of Netanya who was arrested during a routine traffic stop earlier this month while driving under a license suspension with a large quantity of drugs in his car.
On September 8, Northern District police officers stopped the driver for a routine check on Route 90 near the Elifelet Interchange. During the check, officers noticed a strong smell of drugs and discovered that he was driving while disqualified. A subsequent search of the vehicle uncovered large quantities of various illegal substances.
The driver claimed he previously held a medical cannabis license that expired about four months ago, and that he has since been purchasing drugs via the Telegram app. He was arrested and taken to the police station for questioning.
Police investigation revealed that the suspect conducted five drug transactions at different times, including one involving a minor. His remand was extended periodically, and on September 27, the prosecution unit filed an indictment charging him with drug trafficking, supplying dangerous drugs, inducing a minor to use drugs, and using a vehicle to commit a crime.
Israel Police stated: "The Israel Police will continue to act with all means at its disposal to combat the scourge of drugs, emphasizing the apprehension of dealers and distributors operating among the public. This criminal activity causes severe harm to many young people who find themselves trapped in a cycle of use, addiction, and delinquency."
