Israel Land Authority Demolishes 170 Illegal Structures in Negev Operation
The Israel Land Authority demolished some 170 illegal structures across 538 dunams in the Negev, targeting unauthorized construction in Abu Qrinat and the Rotem Plain.
Around 170 structures were evacuated and demolished this morning during a major Israel Land Authority enforcement operation in the Negev. The actions targeted two locations: the Abu Qrinat area and the Al-Misk area in the Rotem Plain, clearing a total of approximately 538 dunams of state land with the assistance of police forces.
In the Abu Qrinat area, court rulings were enforced across 158 dunams containing about 90 structures, including residential homes, livestock pens, stone houses, and a building supply store. According to the ILA, the occupants had no legal rights to the land.
In the Al-Misk area of the Rotem Plain, demolitions covered roughly 380 dunams where about 80 structures had been illegally erected. Officials noted that these involved repeated trespassing by dozens of individuals who re-occupied the state plots without permits.
Shira Tam, head of the ILA Land Protection Division, stated that the operations successfully returned hundreds of dunams to state control. She emphasized that trespassers will be held accountable for the clearance costs and that enforcement will continue nationwide.
