September has arrived, and the National Insurance Institute of Israel has begun distributing benefits to eligible citizens. Due to the upcoming holiday season, several changes have been implemented regarding the distribution schedule for millions of recipients across the country. The most significant news concerns the upcoming days. Just ahead of Yom Kippur, child allowances will be paid to eligible recipients on Sunday, September 20, 2026.
Additionally, in honor of the Sukkot holiday, long-term benefits will be advanced to September 22, 2026. The allowances affected by this early payment include old-age pensions, survivor benefits, work injury compensation, alimony, disability benefits, mobility grants, nursing care allowances, and allowances for prisoners of Zion.
Earlier this month, ahead of Rosh Hashanah, the National Insurance Institute advanced the payment dates for unemployment benefits and income support to September 8, 2026. Meanwhile, the reporting and payment deadline for insurance contributions by the self-employed and employers was set for September 15.
Average benefit payments have surged since the beginning of 2026 due to a consumer price index increase of up to 2.64%. Following the latest adjustment, the average allowance amount across all benefit categories stands at approximately 5,280 NIS.
